Energy Efficiency in the Home
This was a group project and I was lucky enough to work with Mia Beatty and Sean Walsh. During a brainstorming session Sean mentioned that he wanted to expand on an idea from a previous class about creating an online course about sustainability. Because the project for this course called for approximately 6 weeks of instruction, we decided to scale the content down to just focus on energy efficiency in the home.
We were allowed to choose a Learning Management System and since we've been exposed in previous classes to the pros and cons of several we decided to try something new: Canvas by Instructure.
ETEC 632 was structured so that we submitted two sets of planning documents, then a draft version of the course for feedback. After revising the course, we presented at the online TCC (Technology, Colleges, and Community) conference. We also created an Instructor's Guide so that someone who had not been involved in the creation could lead the course.

Feedback
From Instructor:
"Your planning docs look good. All of the required sections were well done. Your objectives were especially well written and clearly define the outcomes."
"Your content outline looks appropriate for your objectives and you did a good job in locating sites for your readings and videos. I really like the videos."
From Peers:
"What immediately stood out to me was the nice use of images throughout the course. I loved the brightness of colors and felt drawn into the text."
"The mix of text, readings, and media are well-balanced in each module, and I can definitely see them holding the students’ interest."
